Dear parents,
If you’re using any audio-streaming service and you have kids aged between three and 10, you might want to read on.
The popular Swedish streaming service, which began by revolutionising the music industry in 2006, has introduced a separate Kids app in Ireland. Parents in Ireland now have the option of removing singalongs and other child-friendly songs on their own playlist in the original Spotify app.
To date, the app is available to those who have subscriptions to the Spotify Premium Family plan, which costs EUR14.99 (MYR69.73) monthly. Under the plan, you can have up to six individual accounts, as well as access to the new app.
There’s both the younger and older option that you can choose from during set up so that your children can get age-appropriate content.
Music editors involved (in helping to decide what’s appropriate for the young ones) have served at corporations that focus on children’s entertainment and audio experiences.
At present, the app is available in beta version. The kind of music also varies from region to region, as it is expected that what is popular in one area may not be popular in another. It is hoped that in the coming years, the same app will be introduced to more markets.
In the future, the company plans to include other content such as podcasts, audiobooks, as well as stories.
The app was designed based in part on studies conducted by the company that involved talking to parents from different nationalities.
Standing out from the original app, this kid-friendly version is found to have colourful playlists and exudes a playful vibe. Additionally, your little ones can just use the simple search function, instead of going through by artist or album.
The ad-free app is available for download via either Google Play (for Android devices) or the App Store (for iOS devices).
The company has spent over 24 months on learning, researching, and coming up with this app. For more information about the latest release, you could point your cursor at https://www.spotify.com/ie/kids/
The streaming service, which was first made available to Irish listeners in 2013, has more than 110 million paid subscribers as of end-September 2019.
