Coming to YouTube: The Phantom of the Opera

Like many musical fans (across the globe), I couldn’t contain my excitement when I found out that different musicals by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber will be streamed for free. In the UK, audiences will get access to his musicals for one day. Meanwhile, audiences abroad will have 48 hours to watch his full-length musicals on YouTube.

From 17 April 2020, audiences will gain access to the much-celebrated The Phantom of the Opera from 7PM UK time. If you’re watching from Malaysia that would be 2AM on the next day.

The version chosen for screening is the 2011 one (from Royal Albert Hall in London) that commemorates the 25th anniversary of the critically-acclaimed show.

Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess play the main characters – the mysterious Phantom and Christine.

The Phantom of the Opera is based on the novel by French author Gaston Leroux.

A dedicated channel has been set up for all his shows – as many continue to stay home in view of the current situation.

For now, catch the teaser before the actual screening.
