The Moffatts was one of the bands whose music got airplay on mainly English language radio stations in Malaysia and across the globe, back in the ‘90s. The band’s hit Miss You Like Crazy, released in 1998, propelled them to stardom. Due to the song’s infectious, repetitive hook/lyric(s), they had gained a steady number of fans, popular especially amongst the females. To date, the song remains one of the most well-known in Southeast Asia.

Fast forward, one-fourth of the Moffatts, Dave released his music video for the once-popular ballad on 29 July 2025. While not exactly Dave’s first cover of the hit, it is new, accompanied by a music video that complements the audio and captures the message of the song well.

The Canadian is now residing in Indonesia, making the country’s scenery including the coastal parts, perfect for backdrops of music videos.

This particular music video takes you through Labuan Bajo, Nusa Tenggara Timur – via drone, giving you coverage that’s delightful and surprising to watch – more than enough to sweep you off your feet. It’s that breathtaking, you can thank me later. Within the Komodo district, Labuan Bajo is a fishing town, located at the western end of the larger Flores Island.

Visibly different in tempo, it is an acoustic cover that effectively makes you think about and feel the lyrics slightly more. Dave Moffatt’s vocals have developed and become much stronger, over the years – making it an exciting discovery.

Dave Moffatt has decided to focus on his solo career, making mainly cover songs, while exploring the beautiful islands that make up Indonesia.

The Moffatts was a Canada-based group that consisted of triplets Bob, Clint, and Dave, who were born about a year, after their elder brother Scott. Bob and Clint are identical twins, while Dave is a fraternal triplet. The Moffatts was active from 1987 until 2001, citing too many similar-sounding boybands during that period. Starting out as a band that performed country songs, The Moffatts moved towards pop/rock, just before disbanding.

In 2012, the band reunited.

In 2017, The Moffatts reunited - without Dave - for a tour across Southeast Asia.
As a follow-up to the band’s Chapter I: A New Beginning, Chapter II, consisting of six tracks, was released in November 2018

Bob and Clint have formed a group Music Travel Love, where they sing and travel to different scenic locations across the world. A common fixture of their group is that they will collaborate with other musicians or artistes to make them stand out from other groups. One of their memorable creative projects was working with Marsha Milan, a Sabahan, on a powerful rendition of ‘Islands in the Stream’, originally by Dolly Parton and the late Kenny Rogers. The music video was shot, showcasing the stunning beauty of Pulau Kalampunian Besar, Kuala Penyu in Sabah.

On the other hand, Scott is producing for other musical artistes and is widely known in the world of country music. In 2020, he produced albums for Luke Combs, the American country singer. Scott won the Record Producer of the Year Award at the 2020 Canadian Country Music Awards show – the first to be held outdoors (due to the pandemic) - that comes under the purview of the Canadian Country Music Association.

In the early days of Music Travel Love, Scott had also helped with the formation of the band.

In November 2024, the quartet reunited briefly, as part of Music Travel Love’s setlist during a show in Toronto, Canada.
