For as long as I can remember, I’ve been looking high and low for hair clips that are easy on the hair. Those who wish to keep their hair neat and tidy would have likely experienced something similar. Well, I used to have one that I treasured a lot. It seems surreal, but I think I know where I left it: clipped on the back of one of the passenger’s seats in the flight on my way to France. By the time I had realised it was gone, I had returned to Malaysia. ????
I’ve been to many hair accessories shops which only have products made in the country that ends with the letter A (I think all of you readers can roughly guess where most of our products are made in, if not locally). While these shops sold well-designed hair clips, they seemed to lack quality. Simply put, these clips are eye-catching and cute. On many occasions, when I feel the need to remove and reposition my hair clip, I find some of my hair stuck in it. Can you imagine if this happened while I’m on-the-go? It would be so embarrassing to have some people notice and say “Eh, why is your hair clip like this?”
And yes, I had gone online previously, but I personally don’t like to purchase something online if it’s something I’m going to wear. Unless of course, I’m very sure that it’s the perfect fit.
Thankfully, I found my answer from a salesgirl who told me that Korean hair clips are much better. So I grabbed a few packs of clips to try out first, but not without informing her that if there’s anything wrong with these hair clips, I would come back to her.
So, did I eventually go back to her? Other than the fact the decorative fabric came off, the hair clip was surprisingly good as none of my hair ever got stuck to it. I didn’t see the need of going back to her to get it fixed. The only thing I have to remember is not to wear it if I’m outdoors.
In fact, slightly more than two weeks ago, I chanced upon a variety store that sells mainly Korean-made products. In the beginning, I didn’t feel like I should step inside and take a look, judging from how much the outlet was trying to appeal and cater to many K-pop fans in Malaysia. (I do listen to some K-pop bands but that’s about it). But then I suddenly remembered the other salesgirl’s advice when I saw this outlet. So I had a look.
I didn’t expect to actually buy a pack of four hair clips. I came back and put one on for a few hours. The result? No more strands of hair found stuck in the hair clip. I then realised that what the salesgirl said (about South Korean products) was true … so much so that I came back for a second visit to the same variety store on a separate day to get myself four new packs of hair clips. Yes, not one but four!
