Fans of Anna Kendrick, rejoice. You might remember her as the “Cups” singer in Pitch Perfect (2013) or for her character in the animated film Trolls (2016), or even the bizarre Scott Pilgrim comic book to film adaptation. Well, Women of the Hour is a stark departure/contrast from her rather lyrical, musical, humourous and bizarre pursuits in the past.  Kendrick doesn’t just take on one of the roles in the film, but is also at the helm of this thrilling movie. Sitting in the director’s chair makes her even more connected not only to her character as a contestant on a dating game show on television, but breathes a certain life into the entire film, as sources indicate. The 95-minute crime thriller is also a period drama type film, based upon a serial killer’s life in the 1970s, who turns to a dating game show on national television to look for his next potential victim. Earning a 16 classification from the Lembaga Penapisan Filem Malaysia (LPF), cast members for this movie alongside Anna Kendrick include Jedidah Goodacre and Taylor Hastings, who are both Canadian. The American Tony Hale of (the TV series) Arrested Development fame is also part of the cast lineup. On 8 October 2023, Woman of the Hour premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada.
