Whenever Douglas Lim announces something on his Facebook page, you know it’s going to make you laugh, because most Malaysians would recognise him as a standup comedian, although he started off as an English teacher, before going into the Malaysian entertainment scene, entering the TV comedy sphere, hosting events, and even going into penning lyrics, singing, the silver screen, and DJ-ing. The pandemic brought about a whole lot of rethinking as most people were masked up and staying remotely or indoors, especially prior to receiving the approved vaccines by government(s) across the world. With the pandemic, this meant in-person events had to be either brought via distance or remotely or otherwise, put on hold. This prompted Douglas Lim to have his YouTube channel, to ensure that someone somewhere is busting boredom by watching his humourous videos, which usually are brilliantly thought-out shots and lines.
According to his latest Facebook video update, he’ll be streaming Made in Malaysia comedy special for free – to all- on YouTube on the 14th of December (Sunday), on his official YouTube channel. You all better make sure to get to the right channel, yeah?
There will also be a gala preview screening of the entire comedy special, set to be held a day before at Menara Ken, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI). This screening is based on paid entry… and it seems like… the King of Comedy is going to be at the screening as well.
So, do mark the 13th and the 14th of December 2025 on your calendar(s), fans! And to those who don’t like him, just know that he’s well aware of that.
Douglas Lim has performed in different states across Malaysia. Elsewhere, he has performed in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He has plans to also perform in New Zealand.
In 2024, the Made in Malaysia special was performed live at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), with three sold-out shows. Now streaming it on YouTube means more Malaysians can appreciate his work and non-Malaysians can be introduced to/reminded of the typical Malaysian lifestyle and its colourful culture, giving rise to loads of humour, wit and sometimes, sarcasm.
