Looking to carve their own path in the pop music industry is no na, an Indonesian foursome female group. From their activity on social media (posted by their label, I’m assuming), they’ve been active in the month of May 2025. Understandably, the group’s songs are all in English to appeal to audiences at an international level. It remains to be seen whether they will incorporate Indonesian in their future songs, as music and dance are universal and can both be appreciated, regardless of the medium and/language used.

The gang of four girls in their 20s debuted with “shoot”, an easy listening piece of work. While trying to separate themselves from the influence of K-Pop, the choreographer for it is Sienna Lalau, a Hawaiian, who has worked with K-Pop sensations BTS, and Blackpink, as well as Jennifer Lopez, the American singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress.

Their music videos take the time to show its viewers, listeners, fans to showcase the backdrops and spots of nature in Indonesia. Trinkets of Indonesian culture are shown, making those within Indonesia and outside Indonesia learn and be impressed and perhaps be more appreciative of these elements that make Southeast Asia stand out from other parts of the world. At the same time, perhaps there are more similarities between the East and West, despite their different locations on the world map.

While there is yet to be an official music video for ‘’falling in love’’, their choreography video is out and it offers a certain slice and perspective of what makes them have the edge over other groups.

For those of us who grew up surrounded by music by Brandy and Monica, Destiny’s Child, this group will surely make you reminisce of a time when these were household names at one point in time.

The quartet consists of Esther, Christy, Shaz, and Baila. Christy was a dance coach for those who liked to participate in ballet and rhythmic gymnastics, while soloist Esther was on Indonesian Idol before this. A former basketballer, Shaz performed dance covers as an ex-member of the dance groups DULCET and EUTONE. The Jakarta-born Baila was a former cheerleader. Artistes that Baila listens to and is influenced by include 5 Seconds of Summer, Taylor Swift, and One Direction.

Nona is the term for miss in Indonesian/Malay – for the purposes of style and to distinguish themselves, they have chosen to have the group name in lowercase and to separate the name, according to the number of syllables.

Head over to their YouTube channel and you’ll notice comments in the positive from fans within and beyond the region.

The group debuted on 2 May 2025. Their music video for superstitious has garnered 1.9million views on YouTube, since its release on 16 May 2025.
