Now playing: “Wild Things Run” by LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes, the pop, country artiste with the ability to both belt and soften within the same song, is back with her new single, known as “Wild Things Run”.

LeAnn Rimes told producers of the 12-episode trauma-based series to make full use of her talents and her song for/in the show. In the show, the song kicks off acoustically, before building into a fully-produced rendition, accurately reflecting her character’s journey in the series.

The Roy Orbison-inspired track was created with LeAnn Rimes’ character in mind, Dixie Bennings, a struggling country singer in the procedural action-packed “9-1-1: Nashville”, which serves as a nod to emergency responders including, the police force, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians.

The release has also fuelled talk about a potential new album.

“Wild Things Run” is a metaphor for a relationship where two people are torn between running towards or running away from each other but eventually find themselves running back to each other again. Longtime fans would note that her powerful vocals are shown in a different way. There’s intensity, sweeping emotion, and vulnerability through the lyrics, structure and melody.

LeAnn Rimes’ new song is a departure from her older, popular hits “Can’t Fight the Moonlight”, “Life Goes On”, and “I Need You” in the 2000s. Perhaps, this can be seen as an even bolder step as a musician, even if she started off singing country in the early ‘90s.

In 2020, LeAnn Rimes participated and won season four of “The Masked Singer” the US version of the “King of Mask Singer”, the South Korean singing competition show which features celebrities singing songs while wearing costume(s) from head to toe and face masks to conceal their identities. During the semi-finals of the same season, LeAnn Rimes performed a spectacular cover of “When the Party’s Over”, originally sung and written by Billie Eilish and her brother FINNEAS.

LeAnn Rimes is currently touring the US until July 2026.

LeAnn Rimes had a number of health issues in 2013, 2022, and 2025, propelling her to either adjust or postpone her performance(s).

From a young age, LeAnn Rimes took both dance and vocal classes, debuting in musical theatre, before becoming an experienced singer at nine years of age.
