The Oscar Awards show went live from 9am onwards Malaysian time. Exclusive to subscribers of a certain package on pay-TV, there were several musical performances to liven up the atmosphere at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the ceremony was held. For a second consecutive year, the show went on without a host. The Oscar Awards was first presented in 1929.
Regardless of genre and what your beliefs are, these musical performances are sure to remain with you for a long time.
Cynthia Erivo, the British singer-songwriter and actress, displays her vocal strengths for the song meant for the 2019 film ‘Harriet’, which talks about the struggles of a particular group, having a certain status in America. The chorus is powerful, and the entire song will highly likely become the anthem for many of you from the first time you listen to it. I’ve yet to hear of any release date for the film in Malaysia.
You can be sure that Sir Elton John is going to deliver something that’s worth dancing (or at least, clapping) to. Go ahead, press play. The song, written for the biopic ‘Rocketman’ (2019), bagged the Best Original Song at the Oscars 2020. I haven’t seen the film yet though.
There was also this conductor that I really liked – Eimear Noone. She conducted the medley of Best Original Score nominees during the Oscars 2020. Here’s a video of her, smashing stereotypes.
