Rarely does a musical contain many songs, which are mesmerising. Hold on, ALL the songs are ear-pleasing. That is how captivating The Phantom of the Opera is.
The Phantom of the Opera, a composition by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be back on the stage to haunt you. Best of all, it will be shown on YouTube for 48 hours for free. In conjunction with the show’s 34th anniversary (since its debut on the physical Broadway stage), the 3-hour show will be returning to the streaming platform.
Earlier in 2020, a dedicated channel called ‘The Shows Must Go On’ had streamed a number of Lloyd Webber’s works. The channel had also come alive with other musicals which were limited to a certain region, before going dark, in view of a summer hiatus. The channel is now showing a new season of musical adaptations, one of which is The Phantom of the Opera.
The version chosen is the one shown in 2011 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, in view of the shows 25th anniversary. Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel by the same name, The Phantom of the Opera centres on the complex love story that is between the soprano voice Christine, Raoul and the (rather obsessed) Phantom, who plays the secret mentor to Christine. Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo take on the roles of Christine and the Phantom.
So those who missed it the first time when it was on in April 2020, or if you’d just like to relive the powerful scenes and songs, make sure to tune in from 10 October 2020 (2AM MYT).
