There’s a lasting quality that makes Swan Lake watchable, no matter how many times you watch the classic, the brainchild of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. In this 2024 version, Prince Seigfried is faced with the decision to choose a bride – during his birthday celebration. In a bid to evade reality, he fades away into dreamland, where he dreams of a perfect love. Prince Seigfried’s tutor attempts to nudge Seigfried back to Earth to complete his duties. On a dreamlike escapade, the prince chances upon Odette, a princess who has been transformed into a swan by a powerful philosopher. As with most stories, only true love can break the spell. Impressed and fascinated by the beauty, Prince Seigfried promises to come to her rescue and invites her over to his party. But obviously, the philosopher has other plans to foil the prince’s attempts to save Odette. The philosopher ropes in his daughter Odile, who masquerades as Odette - to entice him.
