Stop and rewind: The Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem’s back with a new song

image

If there’s one singer-songwriter that I’ve been waiting to write about, it is Delta Goodrem. The Australian soprano voice may not be that well-known in Malaysia, but thanks to a couple of Australian exchange student classmates (for their reminders years ago), who are also fans of hers, I had a good time going through her previous songs, especially recently.

Now that she’s back (stronger), I’m so happy she’s found her voice again. The best part? Her latest work is much closer to her older piano-based tracks.

My first impression of her new song? Why name it ‘Paralyzed’? But after watching this video, you’ll understand why.

Delta Goodrem was diagnosed with a certain type of cancer in 2003, during which she released her debut album ‘Innocent Eyes’, in which one of her top songs ‘Not Me, Not I’ was released.

Then about two years ago, she was close to losing her speech, which, in turn, helped provide some foundation to her latest release in early-August 2020.

One fun fact about her latest single:

Producers include Gary Barlow of the British band Take That, and Kara DioGuardi, who has written for many including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillat,  Santana, and Enrique Iglesias.
