Up next on YouTube: The War of the Worlds, the musical adaptation by Jeff Wayne

Wow! Just by watching the teaser and as someone who has not really read the original work by (the English writer) HG Wells, I never thought that a musical version would make me feel thrilled and excited! I can’t wait for it to premiere 24th October 2AM MYT. You wouldn’t want to miss this particular pre-recorded version, from the O2 Arena in London. Based on a science fiction novel, Wayne adapted it for the stage in 1978. The American-born British composer had subsequently released the songs as part of his concept album then.

Jason Donovan, Liam Neeson and Kerry Ellis are some of the cast members you’ll love to watch out for. In the musical, you will get to experience holograms, which will be used. I think I’m excited as you are to see how this works out, especially in the context of a stage musical.

One fun fact is that The War of the Worlds even has a video game version! So, there you go, if you’d like video games, you might also want to check it out!

The show will be up on ‘The Shows Must Go On’ channel, which has been hosting quite a number of classics including Hairspray and The Phantom of the Opera. The dedicated YouTube channel recently returned with mostly a new set of shows after a summer hiatus. The first round of shows started in April 2020, when many were encouraged to #StayHome due to the current situation.

Remember to watch it before it’s taken down after 48 hours!
