If you’ve been on the Internet this April 2026, you’d have seen jokes, some clever, others silly every time 1 April rolls around. So, this time, KT Tunstall’s humour really had me laughing hysterically. How she announced her new track, a follow-up to “Suddenly I See”, released in 2005/2006, just shows how witty she is. The announcement comes on the back of KT Tunstall’s 20th Anniversary Edition of “Eye to the Telescope” released in late 2025, which makes it an even better joke. Whether or not, it’s really true, we’ll wait and see for her “Suddenly I Saw”. How the post was structured was indeed smart, yet effective - it features both the art covers for the original 2005/2006 song and the upcoming 2026 song side-by-side, with KT Tunstall holding a saw. Oh, the number of puns and play of words this joke can generate! If you haven’t seen her 1 April post, you can have a look at her social media accounts on Facebook and/or Instagram.
KT Tunstall is Scottish on her adoptive paternal side, and half-Scottish and half-Chinese via her Hong Kong-born biological mother. While Tunstall found her biological mother in the ‘90s, she has not met her biological father. Tunstall was adopted when she was almost three weeks old.
KT Tunstall’s iconic hits would get airplay on the radio in Malaysia, a former British colony.
“Suddenly I See” was featured in popular culture with such prominence as the entire song was used throughout the opening scene in “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006). This move made KT Tunstall even more seen across the globe, especially through locations where the film was screened. For a certain period, the movie was found on paid streaming platforms in Malaysia.
The song became a hit as there’s a certain urgency coupled with KT Tunstall’s own style (especially growls) that’s not overdone, and its upbeat rhythm, among other factors.
With the sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” coming in May 2026 and exciting fans, there’s never a better time than now to play along even more with this joke.
It remains to be seen whether the follow-up “Suddenly I Saw” would be featured (as per the first film) in the second part to the comedy, fashion-heavy and women empowerment type film.
“Suddenly I See” was written as a tribute to Patti Smith, for her remarkable work and contribution as Smith is an all-rounder, by also being an author, painter, and activist. It goes without saying that Smith has inspired artistes including R.E.M, U2 and Madonna.
KT Tunstall has been in the US for her tour tied to the release of the 20th Anniversary Edition to her debut album “Eye to the Telescope”, which includes three previously unfinished tracks. In the coming months, she is slated to have her Australia and New Zealand shows, as part of the same tour.
