Julian McMahon, who had said it was difficult to speak with an Australian accent, after having adjusted to roles that required the American accent, has passed away in Florida - after remaining low-key about his cancer diagnosis and fight.
McMahon’s most recent appearance is on Netflix’s The Residence (2025), which is now playing. However, it has been reported that the series will be axed after just one season.
McMahon got one of his early roles on Australia’s soap opera television series Home & Away where he also met Dannii Minogue, whom he was married to briefly in the 90s.
Fans of Charmed, (2000-2003) the supernatural fiction television series, will remember him as Cole Turner.
He was also on Ryan Murphy’s medical drama television series Nip/Tuck (2003-2010), about a plastic surgery centre.
On the big screen, he acted alongside names like Sandra Bullock and Bruce Willis.
McMahon’s current wife, Kelly, shared the news of his passing and has asked for privacy.
McMahon’s parents were a former Australian prime minister and an occupational therapist.
McMahon, who is of Irish and English descent, also has two other sisters.
McMahon shares a daughter via his second marriage to Brooke Burns.
The McMahon family has had a medical history of cancer, with Julian’s father’s death due to skin cancer, while his mother had an undisclosed form of cancer.
McMahon, 56, received a Bachelor of Arts from one of Australia’s universities and even studied law for a short period, but had other pursuits.
