Mark Snow, the popular composer for film and television series, leaves viewers with a wonderful legacy of music – one of which was his work on The X-Files

The man behind the popular theme music of The X-Files, the horror-mystery-supernatural-thriller drama series, has passed on at the age of 78. Snow’s wife was an inspiration behind the whistling in the theme that played from episode two onwards, till the series’ end. Snow also listened to a variety of music and samples before deciding on which to use.

Around 2015, there was a re-boot of the series in which the music was also used.

Later, there were two feature films made, one in 1998 and another in 2008, six years after the original series ended. These two films were where his music was also heard and enjoyed by the audience.

Beyond that, Snow also worked on other series, including Smallville (2001- 2007), Birds of Prey (2002-03), One Tree Hill (2003-05), Ghost Whisperer (2005-2010), and Blue Bloods (2010-2024).

His cause of death remains private.

Snow’s birth name is Martin Fulterman. He attended the prestigious Juilliard School and also formed a band at one point in his life.

He has three daughters, a wife, and grandchildren.
