US-based Connie Francis, in her 80s has been hospitalised, as reported by media outlets.
This unfortunate piece of news came not long after her song Pretty Little Baby went viral on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, after its account users made use of her song to accompany their videos for lighthearted reasons. When approached to ask about her feelings about this sudden revival of the song, Francis said that she had forgotten about the song. At the same time, she is happy that her work is being embraced by generations younger than hers. Francis, who has Italian ancestry thanks to one of her grandparents, was supposed to appear at an event hosted by Cousin Brucie, a radio performer. However, severe pain made her end up in the hospital instead. As of 2025, Francis’ hip injury makes her mobility difficult and necessitates the use of a wheelchair. Francis had hope to make a full recovery from her injury.
Connie Francis had other hit songs like Stupid Cupid and Who’s Sorry Now, although sources reveal that Francis didn’t like the latter work. Longtime songwriters Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka had worked with Francis.
Francis, born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero, retired from the limelight in 2018.
The latest update on her official Facebook page says that she is much better now, after encountering a fracture related to her pelvis, a week before she landed in hospital.
UPDATED 7 July 2025 to reflect Francis' age range accuracy.
