Heading to cinemas in September 2025: A Big, Bold Beautiful Journey

image

From the trailer, this looks like one which has all the ingredients of a fantasy romance movie. With picturesque backdrops and the right backing tune (thank you, Gracie Abrams), you know you’re in for something that’s full of emotions, stunning and quite the perfect piece of work, especially if you’re looking for something different yet familiar and relatable at the same time.

Kogonada, the South Korean-born American director, is at the helm of this motion picture. His portfolio includes Pachinko (2022), the novel-to-television screen adaptation, for which he had written its first four episodes of the AppleTV+ series in its first season. To date, Kogonada’s birth name remains unknown.

The premise: David is off to a wedding, using his old car and his voice-sensitive and rather human-like GPS. At the wedding, he meets Sarah. Not long after, the two strangers turn partners who embark on an unforgettable journey, on the suggestion of the GPS. Along the way, they both discuss and face their pasts as well as discover beautiful sights, unveiling a growth in their relationship. However, the two are also thinking about their own futures. This forces them to face what’s actually ahead and decide on where to go next with their relationship.

Cast members are names including Colin Farrell, the Irish actor, known for his roles in Minority Report (2002) and The Banshees of Inisherin (2023), the Australian actress-producer Margot Robbie, as well as Phobe Waller-Bridge, the English actress, screenwriter and producer. Others featured in the film are American actress Jennifer Grant, known for her television roles in 90210 and Beverly Hills, as well as veteran American actor Kevin Kline, whose career has included work across the stage and screen and he has been doing these for more than 50 years.

Music in the film is provided by Joe Hisaishi, a prominent Japanese musical director, composer, conductor, and pianist.

The runtime has not been stated, while the film is set for release this 18 September 2025 for the Malaysian audience. Audio will be in English, with subtitles provided in Malay and Chinese to suit the multilingual audience of Malaysian moviegoers.
