Huge fans of Maksim Mrvica will surely know of his liking for Malaysian weather and climate. Perhaps this is a factor as to why Maksim is making his return – this time to promote his Segmenti album.

Maksim did not let the war stop him from picking up the piano and continuing his musical journey, even though it was a difficult period in history. Known for his ability to play up to 16 notes per second, Maksim studied at the Music Academy of Zagreb, where he took up five years under the tutelage of Professor Vladmir Krpan, who himself was a student of the late Italian classical pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. Maksim later spent a year in Budapest where he was a student at the Fransz Listz Academy of Music and earned the first prize at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition, named after the late Russian pianist, conductor and composer. Maksim later shifted to Paris, France in 2000 to study under another popular Russian piano teacher and performer, and this helped Maksim clinch the first prize at the Pontoise Piano Competition in 2001.

Tonči Huljić, the Croatian songwriter, music producer and musician discovered Maksim and introduced the pianist to Mel Bush, an English impresario.

A music recording company also took interest in Maksim’s creative work and eventually an album was taking shape. As it turns out, this album was titled The Piano Player and was his debut album, released in 2003. In this album, new interpretations colour the compositions of Handel and Chopin.

In 2004, Maksim made his first visit to Malaysia to a full house at the Stadium Bukit Jalil, demonstrating Flight of the Bumblebee, Croatian Rhapsody and other classics.

In 2023, he serenaded fans at a one-night only 14 February show, named The Collection at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

For the third time this 2025, the nature-loving performer will be backed by an orchestra. Maksim is said to bring a repertoire of both variations and originals from his new album, in which hits by ABBA, Queen and even well-known composers like Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Prokoviev are highlights.

The concert is to take place at Mega Star Arena at night and slated to begin at 8:30pm.

Along with Maksim himself, this show is made possible by the organiser and ticketing partner.

Ticket prices range from RM188 to RM888.
