Celebrating six decades of bringing live ballet performances, The Australian Ballet is thrilled to be offering a 14-day access to the most iconic ballet, Swan Lake. From 29 September 2023, 7.15pm AEST, as long as you have a supported mobile or smart device and a stable Internet connection, you can enjoy the show – thanks to the ballet company’s feature called LiveOnBalletTV.
Tickets are priced at AUD29 per viewing for non-subscribers and AUD26 per viewing for subscribers of BalletTV. For many Malaysians, this is a welcome move, as this is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of opportunity to catch a performance – a highly anticipated one, in fact. Paying customers will be given a link two days before the actual live performance. If you’re unable to catch it live at the same time, it is recommended you wait for the live broadcast to be over before beginning your experience. If you pause the show, it is said that you have to complete watching it within the 14-day timeframe.
LiveOnBalletTV, the company’s live-streaming programme was launched in 2021. The Australian Ballet is known for holding about 200 performances annually.
This new 2023 version put forward by The Australian Ballet is inspired by an earlier one in 1977, which had different artistic direction and cast members. The costumes and set designs are set to be different from those shown or worn in any previous performance and interpretation of Swan Lake.
Principal artists Sharni Spencer and Robyn Hendricks will partake in this production with David Hallberg as artistic director.
Central to this performance is Tchaikovsky’s original, poignant score, which will be performed by the Opera Australia Orchestra.
Here’s to hoping the link provided to my email will work. Can hardly wait.
