Postponed Release: Payne-Pounds effort set for later date, instead of initial 1 November 2024

Okay, so it turns out that Liam Payne has another song, yet to be released. Interestingly, from what’s been said about it from credible online sources, the latest single is a collaboration with US-based singer-songwriter and producer Sam Pounds.

Pounds initially revealed through one of his social media accounts that “Do No Wrong” was set for release on 1 November 2024.

Needless to say, there were two camps of commenters, with many saying that they were disappointed with such a release, it being too near his death. On the other hand, others speak of a certain longing to hear his voice again.

Pounds has worked as a producer for names like Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg, experimenting with multiple genres including R&B and rock as well as incorporating Afrobeats. Pounds grew up surrounded by gospel music and choir.

Payne’s song will have three different versions, including a live mix and an a capella version.

Payne quite easily rose to fame, given his smooth vocals during his time as a One Direction member (2010-2016). However, when one of its five members decided to go solo in 2015, this made the remaining group members question how much they’re able to go on – albeit as a quartet. Eventually with another heading for other solo endeavours, the band announced an indefinite hiatus. Although there were talks for a reunion, the reunion will surely be singing a different tune now, with Payne’s untimely demise.

Both Pounds and Payne have been otherwise keeping their friendship low-key.

Payne has previously worked with others including JC Chasez, Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran.

Payne’s final solo work came out in March 2024 in the form of “Teardrops”, achieving the third spot on the UK Singles Downloads Chart – following his sudden death in October 2024. The single debuted on the same chart at number 44.

Payne died in Argentina in October 2024, a fortnight after being an attendee of his former bandmate’s Niall Horan’s concert in the country.
