Step into the world of a dancer’s grace this December 2024 through the enthralling journey of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
Similar in audience reception to Tchaikovsky’s previous work, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker ballet was originally a flop in Russia, before gaining popularity and success. Unlike the original story which contains blood and darker themes, the ballet is tweaked to suit as wide an age range as possible so that as many can enjoy and appreciate the dance. From performances in the past, the female protagonist has had many character names.
An adaptation of a short story titled “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by German author-composer-artist ETA Hoffman, The Nutcracker ballet is set to be the perfect Christmas gift for you, your family and your other loved ones to dive into and enjoy in 2024.
With tones of reflection in their performance, the Nutcracker Ballet is set to take you places -from your seat in the hall. The Nutcracker ballet performance will be drawn upon the two-act ballet conceptualised by Tchaikovsky, along with his signature score.
Dancers and performers from the National Ballet Theatre in Russia’s Saint Petersburg are expected to deliver an impeccable performance, demonstrating their techniques and experience, to those watching from Malaysia, as part of their Asia tour which will also include stops in Jakarta and Singapore.
Witness the battle of the Mouse King in this ballet performance, set against the backdrop of Christmas trinkets, and watch these dancers take you on a journey that’s spellbinding and boundary-crossing. The well-designed costumes are also guaranteed to be a subject of discussion, even once the show has ended.
So, go on, join the captivating Christmas gathering, capture these wonderful moments and memories – and may you look back at these with much fondness.
Previously, the organiser hosted the Swan Lake ballet in May 2024, so the same organiser is returning with hopefully a more promising and stronger show.
Ticket prices range between RM249 and RM999. For those coming with children, your young ones must be at least 5 years old to be admitted into the venue.
Catch the enchantment and excitement at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at 8 pm on 13 December 2024.
