Seen via YouTube: Frankenstein "the play" at the National Theatre in London

image

Gosh, how I wish I watched the theatre play of Frankenstein earlier. At first, I was hesitant, having only heard about Frankenstein in passing in one of my Writing-related classes (as an undergraduate).

But as always, Benedict Cumberbatch’s acting is stellar. The play, based on a book by Mary Shelley, was held at the National Theatre in London in 2011. The book was backed by the fact that scientists were studying the possibility of reviving corpses using electricity. Bearing in mind the current situation that has made many stay home/put, the organiser has agreed to have the play shown via YouTube for free.

The version I’m referring to is the one with Benedict Cumberbatch as the creature, thought out by Frankenstein (Jonny Lee Miller), as part of his science experiment. If you’re in Malaysia, you have until 2AM MYT 8 May 2020 to watch it.

Benedict Cumberbatch has some background in theatre. Cumberbatch became known internationally after he was cast to play Sherlock Holmes in the television series Sherlock (2010-2017). His later films include The Imitation Game (2014), in which he was cast to play the main role of Alan Turing.

Jonny Lee Miller, the British-American actor, comes from a family of actors and actresses. He is good friends with Cumberbatch.
