Loyal followers of AbeWee and Mekyun would have seen the news – AbeWee has his status upgraded to someone’s spouse, and no longer just someone’s brother to Mekyun and his other brothers. They’re both content creators and influencers in the Malaysian sphere.

Naturally, being of Chinese descent, both the bride and groom followed the rites and customs, including the tea ceremony, which is considered a show of respect to your elders, once you are married out of the family. Then, there’s of course, the fetching of the bride from the bride’s (father’s) house to the other side of the family. However, in many cases, the groom has to go through certain challenges to get a hold of the bride – many of which depends on what the bride has put forth beforehand on their big day.

Portions of the (dinner) reception are also shown, which is quite the norm for one’s big day.

However, the highlight from the reel that was shared by Mekyun has to be Mekyun’s tribute to AbeWee, as they’ve lived together since they were born and had the privilege of sharing many memories together, navigating the ups and downs of life together, and most importantly, keeping each other company – even through young adulthood. All these qualities in AbeWee make him a fun, loving, and reliable brother.

It’s not easy of course to live with the fact that your sibling will have his/her spouse and thus be as close as possible to him/her, but it is something that any sibling like Mekyun has to come to terms with.

From the reel, you’ll learn that AbeWee has married someone good-hearted, kind, and caring, based on the commentary by Mekyun and some cute brother-sister moments between the two siblings.

As it was the long weekend (with Monday being a public holiday) in Malaysia last week, it was a good opportunity to tie the knot and for ceremonies to take place.

AbeWee and Mekyun are siblings, born into a Kelantanese Hokkien family. They are both popular on social media channels in their own way, but their striking difference is that they are both able to speak Malay and Kelantanese Malay with a certain twang and level of proficiency.  They both also have some proficiency in Thai, given the proximity of their hometown to Thailand.

This is probably why AbeWee’s posting frequency has seen a slight decline, in the lead-up to the special day. But now that you and I know, we’re both delighted about this milestone.

Note: Mek is a form of salutation for Kelantanese females, girls, ladies, and women. Abe is the Kelantanese way of saying the standardised ‘abang’/ ‘brother’, which helped in the forming of their usernames on their social media accounts.
