Well-known in the arena of country music, Dolly Parton is set to launch her debut novel in collaboration with James Patterson, who has written books including those in the young adult fiction category as well as the mystery genre. The 75-year old singer-songwriter, who previously sponsored one of the vaccines meant to mitigate the risks of COVID-19, will release the US and UK editions [of the novel] in early-March 2022. Although it is Parton’s debut novel, Run, Rose, Run is not her first venture into writing books. In the past, Parton has written a number of memoirs. Accompanying the piece of fiction is Parton’s new CD album that would have 12 tracks, based on the characters and situations in the book. Some lyrics will also be featured in the book.

Through her own non-profit organisation, Parton has been supporting children’s literacy. Those enrolled under her literacy programme would receive one book per month – from their birthdays to the time they enter kindergarten.

Patterson, who has sold around 300 million books across the globe, has collaborated with other personalities and figures.

To date, it is unclear how many formats will be available for purchase and readership. The 400-page book will be published by an American publishing house, owned by a German conglomerate.

News of this comes as the US celebrated their National Book Lovers Day on 9 August annually, although its origins remain rather sketchy.
